Prescriptions

This is a dispensing practice and most of our patients can therefore collect their medication from the Medical Centre rather than having to make a trip into town.

Repeat prescriptions may be requested by:

  • dropping in or posting the repeat prescription slip issued with your prescription
  • or by faxing your request to 01553 811629
  • or by emailing your request to wmc.dispensary@nhs.net

Please ensure that you include your name and date of birth with the request. We are unable to accept requests by telephone.

Prescription scripts will be available for collection within 48 hours of request (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays).  If the actual medication is not on the shelf at this time, you may take the prescription to a chemist.

In accordance with NHS regulations we are only able to supply one month's supply of each medication per prescription; in exceptional circumstances for example holiday abroad additional packs may be allowed.

Patients who pay for prescriptions may find it cheaper to purchase a 4 or 12 month pre-payment certificate which will cover all prescriptions issued in that period.  Please ask the dispenser for details.  You may pay by cash, cheque, or debit card (for which there is an additional charge).

Patients who are exempt from prescription charges are now required to provide proof of exemption in the form of the certificate or document that entitles them to exemption.  Prescriptions for over 60's and those in full time education under the age of 19 are free.
